学校概况
天津外国语大学附属外国语学校创建于1964年，是在周恩来总理亲自关怀批示下创建的全国首批外国语学校之一，现为天津市直属重点中学，首批示范校，全国外国语学校副理事长校，是教育部规定的具有推荐保送生资格的学校之一。学校坚持为党育人、为国育才，在六十年的办学历程中为国家培养了众多优秀人才，仅在外语外交领域就有百余位驻外使节，其中驻外大使20余位，取得了丰硕的育人成果，赢得了良好的口碑和广泛的社会赞誉，被天津老百姓亲切的称为“小外”。
学校占地面积80余亩，建筑面积5万余平米。设有初中部、高中部、国际部，开设英、日、德、法、西五种外语。在校学生1700余人，教职工240余人。学校坚持“开放式教育”的办学特色，秉持“根植中国 胸怀世界 追求卓越”的学校精神，践行“开放 多元 自强 志远”的校训，形成“博雅宽容 和谐共生”的校风、“厚德博学 深思明辨”的教风和“乐学善思 勤奋卓越”的学风。

Tianjin Foreign Languages School Affiliated to Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFLS) was founded in 1964, under the direct care and instruction of the then-Premier Zhou Enlai. It is one of the first foreign language schools in China and is currently a key school under the direct supervision of Tianjin Education Committee. Besides, TFLS is also one of the first model schools and its principal serves as the vice-chairman of the National Foreign Languages School Association. Above all, it is authorized by the Ministry of Education to recommend students for university admission without taking the college entrance examination. TFLS adheres to the mission of cultivating talents for the Party and the country. Over the past 60 years, it has nurtured many outstanding talents. In the field of diplomacy alone, there are more than 100 envoys coming from TFLS, including over 20 serving as ambassadors abroad, contributing significantly to the nation's diplomatic efforts. The school has earned a stellar reputation and widespread acclaim, thus affectionately referred to by Tianjin locals as "Xiaowai."
TFLS currently covers an area of more than 13 acres, with the total construction area of about 50,000 square meters, consisting of junior department, senior department and international department. Five language courses are offered: English, Japanese, German, French and Spanish. With more than 1,700 students and over 240 faculty members, the school, with its characteristic open education system, remains committed to its school spirit of Rooting in China, embracing the world, and striving for excellence and consistently practices the school motto of cultivating open-minded, multicultural, self-reliant and ambitious talents. The school has been recognized as one of the first distinguished schools in Tianjin, part of Tianjin's first "brand high school" project, and a pilot school for career development guidance for high school students. It also distinguishes itself by winning the title of educational base school for high school English language and art courses.
